What’s Rockin’ @ RockOm: 10/7

As the financial markets continue to be shakier than ever and instability abounds, it's good to have a friend in music. In these rocky times, our favorite albums and songs can be there as comforters.

Today we want to introduce you to a new band and song that you may well want to add to that list of comfort music. Kindling Stone, a Nashville- based duet, provides RockOm with this week's Featured Track of the Week. See the home page from now until October 13th to check out their beautifully-written song "Pilgrim's Gate." You'll also want to consider following their CDBaby link to pick up a copy of their amazing new album.

Then be sure to turn over to our podcast page - or simply open your podcatcher - to listen to an interview with Kindling Stone's Chris Moore. In the interview Chris shares about the band's background as well as how music is like enlightenment:

"Music eradicates all the questions. All of a sudden you don't need to ask any more questions because they're all answered for you in your direct experience. And that's what's so beautiful about what's often called 'the universal language.'"

These guys have tapped into a “direct experience”, and its real interesting to listen to (what they play and say). All these roots prevent erosion, so keep up the good work, –ZE

This is about the coolest music I’ve heard in a long while- very deeply oriented in a tradition that speaks to me and filled with such newness. I’ve played this entire CD many times over now and it just gets better each time I hear it.

Thanks for sharing this with us and we hope to hear more from you in the future.
