Thanks to the power of new media such as Twitter, RockOm has been introduced to many artists we otherwise may not have come in contact with. While searching for relevant 'tweets' one day on some of our favorite subjects, a man named Karl Nova posted,

Is wondering "is there any space for spirituality to be expressed in Urban music?"

After engaging in a dialog with Karl and asking who he thought was expressing spirituality in urban music, he said, "Common, Mos Def, myself and many others." Realizing now that he was a rap artist himself, we quickly pointed over to his page only to be blessed and impressed by his musical offerings.

Whether it is in rap format, spoken word poetry, or heartfelt street psalms (as he calls them), London-based Karl Nova seeks to give voice to the search for meaning and deep need for faith, hope and spirituality that relates to everyday living. Karl started in church but grew disillusioned by the discrepancies, his music and poetry now being like a diary of his journey, his highs and lows, discoveries and breakthroughs. He seeks to be an alternative and positive voice in the current contemporary urban music scene.

I felt so lonely and rejected but at the same time (now that I look back), I realized that there had to be a higher power guiding me the whole time.
