The most comfortable companions and lovers are musicians as well as those who dance into the morning to mystical rhythms sans cares of an earth-only born being. We come to know, through music’s portal something outrageous about truth, something transforming that once revealed, once heard forever frees our minds and our hearts so that we are never the same again. We love from this higher source and dance from this sacred being, understanding and then forgetting; remembering and dissolving again and again and again. Such is our song and our sacredness.
We understand this in one another; as musicians, or as music lovers. It doesn’t need to be spoken- that is exactly why our bond exists... no words are needed, none will do. We have agreed to move beyond, together.
“Music, oh, how faint, how weak,
Language fades before thy spell!
Why should feeling ever speak,
When thou canst breathe her soul so well?”
I sometimes fantasize of a world, an existence where the only means of communicating are through singing, music or dance. How peaceful, how nurturing might this world be? Instead of harsh words, criticism and hate born from that part of our brain governed by reason and analytical thought we would instead draw from an entirely different region where passion, love and empathetic feelings are created. Words sometimes are so very important, yet fail us miserably. We must learn to trust a deeper part of our being and move beyond words entirely for some answers.
“Friendship's balmy words may feign,
Love's are even more false than they;
Oh! 'tis only music's strain
Can sweetly soothe, and not betray.”["On Music" by poet Thomas Moore]
Truth without words, truth as beauty on wings of song emanating from and penetrating deeper into our soul so that no matter the years, no matter the fate- if we’ve loved and loved well or suffered for love there is a sacred song always on our lips. I am in love with your song and with your sacred being fully aware there is no you - there is no me... there is only this moment, this song, this being. We are all, in love.
