Rahil BRahil Babooram is a singer/ songwriter/ musician who lives in Trinidad, Caribbean and is a regular reader and forum contributor at RockOm.net. Inspired by a wide array of musical and spiritual influences, Rahil has put together four albums, the latest entitled "Cuatro."

On the heels of "Cuatro," Rahil has done some interviews including one with Adrian Simmons of WestIndianCulture.com - which he has posted in a thread at the RockOm forums. Here's a sample:

Adrian: You're also known for 'bringing to light' the issues that we all face on a daily basis in through your music. Is that by choice, or is it done because of the type of music that you deal with?

Rahil Babooram: I write about what inspires me. My entire 1st album (Gaura-Vani) was spiritual because I wanted to dedicate my 1st public 'offering' to God (Krishna) first. In my other albums (Simply Rahil, Orange, Cuatro) I have songs about love, lust, sadness, anger, and other more 'material' issues, but issues that affect us all nevertheless. To answer your question, I'd say 'by choice' because it is a choice really when I put pen to paper and paper to voice.

Adrian: So, you basically cover the entire spectrum of human emotion when you sit and write.

Rahil Babooram: Sure, at least the part of the spectrum that I experience or from what I can observe happening to others - including the animals, as that is also an issue that I choose to sing out about. I am fully against the slaughter of animals - and of course other sentient beings. I'm a vegan as a result of this understanding.
