Blog Post Submission Guidelines

Anyone can submit a post for consideration for the RockOm front page Blog! Read the following instructions on how you can send in your offering.

Entries are to be sent to

DEADLINE

Entries are to be submitted by Wednesday night at midnight (EST) to be considered for the following week's post lineup.

LENGTH

There are no restrictions on length / word count.

WHEN / HOW ENTRIES ARE PUBLISHED

You can submit as many entries as you would like in any given week. Based on the number of entries submitted, a daily lineup of posts will be chosen for the following week. RockOm reserves the right to deny publication for any reason. In order to ensure and encourage publication, please follow all applicable guidelines within this document.

SUBJECT/CONTENT

The content of submitted posts can contain anything that speaks to the connection between music and spirituality such as:

  • Dissecting the lyrics to a pop song
  • Album review
  • Music-themed meditation exercise instructions
  • Reflection on a scripture passage that speaks about music
  • Current event
  • Highlighting a musician (local/national/international)
  • Pick a musical term (resonance, intervals, staccato) and make a correlation to spirituality
  • Other – be creative!

CORE VALUES

All published pieces must fall within the boundaries of the RockOm Core Values. Posts in violation of these Core Values risk being discarded.

RockOm Core Values:

  1. Resonance (Encouragement) – RockOm will promote a culture of resonant, positive encouragement and growth through affirming and life-giving energy. Similarly, we will discourage negative behavior and attitudes (dissonance) both within the site and in the management.
  2. Theme and Variation (Dignity) – RockOm respects the inherent worth within every individual and, since all people are interconnected yet unique sparks of the divine, seeks to treat all people with the dignity, love and understanding they deserve.
  3. Polyphony (Openness) – RockOm seeks to encourage relationships, conversations and understanding between people of all religious and spiritual practices and backgrounds.
  4. Harmony (Sustainability) – RockOm will make informed choices that reduce our company's ecological footprint.
  5. Accompaniment (Stewardship) – 10% of all of RockOm's profits are to be given back to aid rotating charities and organizations that make a difference in the areas of music education, spirituality and compassion.

EDITORIAL STANDARDS

  • Check for spelling and/or grammatical errors
  • Link to any research and quote all sources
  • If an interview is taken, make sure the person being interviewed understands they are on the record and are willing to be quoted in print
  • If including images, make sure you are the owner of those images or have permission to include them

SELF PROMOTION

Feel free to include a short (2 sentence max) tag line at the bottom of your posts that link back to your personal business, blog or homepage or promote anything you're working on.
